Common questions
What’s the most popular style?
Trucker hats and structured snapbacks are top sellers for businesses, and relaxed ‘dad hats’ are a favorite for casual merch.
Can you do 3D puff?
Yes. 3D puff embroidery works great for bold letters and simple logos on the front of structured caps.
Can you add a patch?
Yes. Embroidered, woven and leather-style patches are available. Ask us which works best for your design.
Do hats need special artwork?
We digitize your logo for hat embroidery, which is slightly different from flat garments because of the curved crown. We handle that for you.

The in-depth guide
Hat styles explained
- Structured caps have a stiff front panel that holds its shape and shows off a logo. Great for 3D puff and bold designs.
- Unstructured caps (dad hats) are soft and relaxed with a lower profile. Flat embroidery looks great on them.
- Trucker hats have a foam or cotton front and mesh back panels that breathe. They are one of the most popular styles in Florida for a reason.
- Snapbacks and fitted caps come with a flat or curved bill. Snapbacks adjust; fitted and flex-fit styles come in sizes.
- Rope hats have a cord across the front of the bill for a retro look.
- Performance caps use lightweight, quick-dry fabrics for boating, fishing, running and golf.
- Visors, bucket hats and beanies round things out for golf events, beach businesses and the few cold days we get.
How we decorate hats
Flat embroidery is the classic. Clean, durable and works on almost any hat. 3D puff embroidery raises the letters with foam underneath for a bold, retail look on structured fronts. Patches (embroidered, woven, leather or synthetic leather) give a premium finish and can hold more detail. Some hats can also be printed or decorated with transfers, depending on the material. We will recommend the method that suits your logo and the hat style.
Sizing your logo for a hat
The front of a cap is a curved, limited space. Most front designs land around 2 to 2.5 inches tall and up to about 4 to 5 inches wide. Wide, horizontal logos work well. Very tall or very detailed logos sometimes need a simplified hat version. You can also add a small side logo, a back arch over the strap opening, or a design on the bill for extra branding.
Hats for Florida weather
Down here hats work hard. Mesh-back truckers and performance fabrics breathe better in the heat. Lighter colors stay cooler in the sun. For fishing and boating crews, quick-dry performance caps hold up to salt and sweat. If your team is outside all day, tell us and we will point you to styles that will not end up stuck in a truck console.
Who orders custom hats
Contractors and home-service companies put them on every crew member. Fishing guides, marinas and charters sell them to customers. Breweries and restaurants use them as merch. Sports teams, soccer leagues and booster clubs hand them to coaches and parents. Startups and brands use them as some of their best-value swag, because people wear a good hat far more often than a promo pen.
Ordering tips
- Mixed colors in one order are usually fine. Ask us about splitting your quantity across a few hat colors.
- Adjustable styles (snapback, strap back) remove most sizing headaches for teams and giveaways.
- Send your logo early so we can digitize it and show you a proof for the hat specifically, since hat embroidery is set up differently than flat garments.
- If you are matching existing team or company gear, send a photo or a sample.
Caring for custom hats
Spot clean with mild soap and cool water. Avoid the washing machine and the dryer, which can warp the brim and the crown. Air dry on something round so it keeps its shape.
Who orders custom hats
Contractors, trades and service crews
Crews go through shirts fast, so durable printed tees with a left-chest logo and a big back print are the standard. Embroidered polos for estimators and office staff look professional at the customer’s door. Safety colors and lightweight performance fabrics help on hot job sites, and hats keep the brand visible all day.
Charters, marinas and boat crews
On the water, performance fabrics and UPF sun shirts matter. Captains and crews wear long-sleeve performance shirts with a logo on the chest and back, plus quick-dry hats. Many charters also sell shirts and hats to customers, so retail-quality blanks and a strong design pay off.
Breweries
Brewery merch is a category of its own: soft tees, hoodies, trucker hats and koozies that customers buy as souvenirs. A retail-quality shirt with a great design sells itself, and staff shirts keep the taproom looking put together.
Leagues, teams and clubs
Soccer leagues, baseball, softball, lacrosse and rec teams order jerseys, practice shirts, coach and parent gear every season. Names and numbers can be added per player, and sponsor logos on the back or sleeve help cover costs. Collect sizes early and order a few extras for late sign-ups.
Team, league and club uniforms
Youth soccer leagues, rec leagues, travel teams and adult leagues around Southwest Florida order jerseys, practice shirts, coach polos, parent shirts and hats every season. A typical setup is a screen printed team design with individual names and numbers added per player. Getting the size breakdown right is the hardest part, so we recommend collecting sizes from every family before ordering, and grabbing a few extras for late sign-ups.
Sponsors can go on the back or sleeve, which helps leagues cover the cost. Booster clubs and PTOs often add spirit wear and hats for parents and fans.
Company uniforms that hold up
Work shirts take a beating. For trades and service companies in Southwest Florida, the goal is a shirt that still looks good after months of sun, sweat and washing. Embroidered polos and work shirts look professional with customers. Printed tees are cost-effective for crews who go through shirts fast. Adding your logo on the left chest and a large logo or phone number on the back turns every employee into a moving billboard.
Once your logo is set up, re-ordering is simple, which matters when you hire new people or need to replace worn uniforms.
Planning your order timeline
The most common problem we see is not the print, it is the calendar. Work backward from the day you need the shirts in hand. Leave time for picking garments, approving the proof, and printing or stitching. Blank availability can change, especially for specific colors and sizes, so ordering early gives you more options.
If you are in Southwest Florida and planning around a tournament, a grand opening, a fundraiser or a holiday, reach out as soon as you know the date. If the timing is tight, say so up front. We will tell you straight whether we can make it and what would help, like picking an in-stock garment or simplifying the design.
What affects the price of custom apparel
Four things move the price more than anything else: quantity, the garment, the number of colors (for screen printing) or stitches (for embroidery), and the number of places you want decorated. Setup costs are spread across the whole order, which is why 48 shirts cost less per shirt than 12. A one-color front print is the most economical; adding a back print, a sleeve or extra colors adds cost.
The garment can be the biggest variable of all. A basic cotton tee and a premium performance shirt are very different prices before anything is printed. For Southwest Florida customers on a budget, we will show you where to save without making the final product look cheap.
Merch for brands, bands and startups
If you are selling shirts, the bar is higher. Retail-quality merch needs a softer blank, a well-sized print and colors that look good in photos. Tri-blends, ringspun cotton and garment-dyed shirts are popular. Water-based or soft-hand inks give a lighter feel. Startups in Southwest Florida often order a mix: tees and hats for the team, plus a small batch of hoodies or premium pieces for launches and investors.
Start with a smaller run to see what sells, then re-order the winners. Since screens and files are already set up, re-orders are faster and easier.
Re-orders and keeping your brand consistent
Once your artwork, ink colors or embroidery file are set up with us, re-ordering is easy. We keep your files, so the next batch of shirts, hats or polos matches the last one. That consistency matters for businesses in Southwest Florida that hire throughout the year, teams that add players mid-season and brands that restock merch. Just tell us what you ordered last time and how many you need.
Getting your logo print-ready
The best file is a vector: AI, EPS, PDF or SVG. Vectors are made of shapes instead of pixels, so they stay sharp at any size. If you only have a PNG or JPG, send the biggest, highest-quality version you can find. Text should be outlined or the fonts included. Brand colors are easiest to match with Pantone numbers.
If your logo lives on an old business card, a sign or a napkin sketch, that is okay. We help Southwest Florida customers clean up and rebuild artwork all the time, and you will see a digital proof before anything goes on a shirt.
